STASKA Pharmaceuticals has voluntarily recalled one lot of Ascorbic Acid Solution for Injection (Lot code: SP2400058, Exp. Date: 12/31/2024) due to potential glass contamination.

While no adverse reactions have been reported, injecting vitamins with glass particulates may lead to serious health risks such as local irritation, swelling, or even life-threatening complications like stroke. Health care providers are urged to stop using, quarantine, and return the affected product immediately.

Due to Hurricane Helene’s impact on the Baxter facility in North Carolina, there is currently a shortage of IV fluids nationwide. This shortage is especially critical as many healthcare facilities depend on these products for patient care. In response to this crisis and other public health emergencies, the FDA has issued new temporary policies to allow the compounding of specific parenteral drug products, ensuring continued access to essential treatments.
